COVID-19 health sensor: The new Apple Watch measures blood oxygen.

The Apple Watch Series 6 has a significant health sensor that allows the users to check their blood oxygen levels.

Apple has included the latest technology in its Apple Watch Series 6 to facilitate people in the coronavirus era. This new feature will help people suffering from Covid-19 to measure their blood oxygen levels and identify if they need emergency help or not depending on the severity of the results. 

While revealing the new Apple Watch Series 6 on Tuesday, Jeff Williams, Apple’s chief operating officer, said: “With Apple Watch Series 6, you can measure your blood oxygen right from your wrist.” The company hosted a virtual event this year due to coronavirus to unveil its latest products. Unlike the previous fall events, this event was limited to online screens due to the pandemic.

Originally launched in 2015, the Apple Watch has evolved exponentially. It has transformed from a luxury item to a health device and people are using it to maintain their health. The Apple Watch offers an ECG heart monitor, a step-tracking app, and a meditation app already. Apple CEO Tim Cook said during Tuesday’s event: “Apple Watch revolutionized what a watch can do. We feel a deep responsibility to keep innovating.”

The Apple Watch Series 6 is an upgraded version as it comes with a blood oxygen reader also called oximeter. All the health-related information gets stored in the health app which can be checked regularly. In addition to Covid-19 patients, people with severe asthma issues, pneumonia, and other pulmonary diseases can use the watch to track their health. 

Since blood oxygen levels are usually checked by setting the oximeter on the tip of the finger, Apple Watch Series 6 is an upgraded version with new hardware making it more exclusive.
