Apple acquires Primephonic to improve classical music offering
Apple Music gets an upgrade. On Monday the company announced that it has acquired Primephonic, a streaming service for classical music. This move will boost the classical music offering of Apple Music.
The tech giant has plans to close the existing platform and introduce a new service in its place next year. Primephonic will be offline from 7th September and will no longer be available for new users.
Moreover, Apple said that its music subscribers will get better classical music with exclusive audio content and a Primephonic playlist.
The stream service company posted on its website that, people already using Primephonic will get a pro-rated refund along with a six-month Free subscription code for Apple music.
Primephonic’s co-founder and CEO said in a press release issued by Apple that “We get to bring classical music to the mainstream and connect a new generation of musicians with the next generation of audience.”
Apple said it has plans to launch an app next year, especially for classical music. The app will be made by merging the UI of Primephonic with Apple’s brand. In addition, it will improve the browsing and search capabilities with detailed displays of classical music metadata.
